April has sprung. Two glorious sunny days with blue skies have bathed the Allotments in gold and the ‘Osterhasen’ have left treats for the children. The planting season is fast approaching. Before the ‘big dig’ starts in earnest, The Farm Terrace ‘Crew’ spent those last few hours in The Odd Fellows Pub listening to ‘The Band’ whilst sipping on their beer and munching sandwiches which magically appeared on the bar at 9:00pm. Conversation ebbed and flowed accompanied by spontaneous outbursts of laughter as well as by some hushed whispers about the upcoming meeting with WBC on 3 April 2013. That’s 3:3:13 for the number crunchers.
It’s hard to imagine why WBC have driven at such speed to wipe away all that this plucky group of individuals stands for. They stand for Community Spirit, Honesty, Outdoor Activity, Wholesome Food, Family Fun, A Greener Future for Watford. It makes no sense to drive a wedge into Watford’s Heart in this way.
Tonight, once again, the group will assemble at WBC Offices at 7:00pm for a Cabinet Meeting. It appears that a little known outfit in Edinburgh has produced an Allotments Assessment which didn’t apparently take into account information from the holders themselves. The assessment was therefore not done according to the proper guidelines.
Watford, did you know your Green Spaces have been graded? Furthermore it appears that Farm Terrace received a low assessment grading even though or probably because it is a highly prized house building site.
What’s going on? Well ask Paul Rabbits – Easter Rabbits? No, I give up. In addition Watford Borough Council’s park ranger service looks like it is being outsourced tonight. Oh Dear. Mr Rabbits seems to have a warren full of devious assistant rabbits plotting the destruction of local jobs as well! He’s giving law-abiding rabbits a bad name indeed!
Richard Harrington Con MP Watford is on Easter Break at the moment.
